It was an auspicious occasion at the Escape Charity Launch on the 4th of February 2017 in a celebrity loaded event which included many of the regular actors who walk the cobbles of Coronation Street.
The event was held at Old Trafford, Manchester in the Manchester VIP Suite.
Coronation Street regulars mingled with many others in the world of entertainment and most especially survivors of childhood sexual abuse and hosted by Karen Blake and her daughter Abbi the event was organised to raise awareness of their charity that hopes to raise funds to open up a specialised unit to give the care needed for survivors.
Interspersed with the entertainment were speakers who were survivors of childhood sexual abuse including Chris Tuck from S.O.B., Daniel Wolstencroft from Shatterboys UK and the Chair of Voicing CSA Phillip Lafferty.
Phillip said he felt quite anxious at the event but it was important to raise awareness of childhood sexual abuse and people who were in the public eye are important as they can be great advocates for the cause. It was great news that Kym Marsh and Simon Gregson were to be Patrons of the Charity and that Christopher Harper was now an Ambassador for Voicing CSA.
